FAQ

Good questions

Do I need to know Hebrew?

No. Each chapter page shows the Hebrew next to an English translation and a transliteration, so you can follow along at any level. You can hide any column you don’t need.

Is the study in person?

No. The Tenakh study meets on Zoom only, every Wednesday at 7:00 pm Central. Text us at (469) 608-9944 for the link.

What is the Tenakh?

The Tenakh is the Hebrew Bible: the Torah (the five books of Moshe), the Nevi’im (the Prophets) and the Ketuvim (the Writings). In this study we read the Prophets and Writings chapter by chapter, beginning with 2 Samuel.

What is the commentary?

Short notes written for this study from a Messianic Jewish perspective. They read each passage in its Torah setting, with the Sages, and with the witness of the Brit Hadashah. The notes are hidden until you tap Commentary on a chapter page.

Can I join if I missed the first weeks?

Yes. Read the earlier chapters on this page to catch up, and text us for the Zoom link.

Every time my wife and I have visited Benei Avraham, we have been greeted with hospitality. The Rabbi and Rebettzin are very friendly and they love discussing Torah, Halacha, and Yehoshua with those willing to do so.

I have only participated online, but feel a part of the family even from Alabama. My Hebrew has improved and I've learned halacha in such a gentle way. Our family has been able to absorb it and walk in the new things we have learned. I hope to be able to meet them in person someday!
