26:1that Hashem spoke unto Moshe (Moses) and unto Elazar (Eleazar) the son of Aharon (Aaron) the priest, saying,

אוַיֹּ֤אמֶר יְהוָה֙ אֶל־מֹשֶׁ֔ה וְאֶ֧ל אֶלְעָזָ֛ר בֶּן־אַהֲרֹ֥ן הַכֹּהֵ֖ן לֵאמֹֽר׃

26:2“Take the sum of all the congregation of the children of Yisrael (Israel), from twenty years old and upward, by their fathers’ house, all that are able to go to war in Yisrael.”

בשְׂא֞וּ אֶת־רֹ֣אשׁ ׀ כָּל־עֲדַ֣ת בְּנֵי־יִשְׂרָאֵ֗ל מִבֶּ֨ן עֶשְׂרִ֥ים שָׁנָ֛ה וָמַ֖עְלָה לְבֵ֣ית אֲבֹתָ֑ם כָּל־יֹצֵ֥א צָבָ֖א בְּיִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃

26:3And Moshe and Elazar the priest spoke with them in the plains of Moav (Moab) by the Yarden (Jordan) near Yeriḥo (Jericho), saying,

גוַיְדַבֵּ֨ר מֹשֶׁ֜ה וְאֶלְעָזָ֧ר הַכֹּהֵ֛ן אֹתָ֖ם בְּעַֽרְבֹ֣ת מוֹאָ֑ב עַל־יַרְדֵּ֥ן יְרֵח֖וֹ לֵאמֹֽר׃

26:4“Take the sum of the people, from twenty years old and upward,” as Hashem commanded Moshe and the children of Yisrael, who went forth out of the land of Mitzrayim (Egypt).

דמִבֶּ֛ן עֶשְׂרִ֥ים שָׁנָ֖ה וָמָ֑עְלָה כַּאֲשֶׁר֩ צִוָּ֨ה יְהוָ֤ה אֶת־מֹשֶׁה֙ וּבְנֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל הַיֹּצְאִ֖ים מֵאֶ֥רֶץ מִצְרָֽיִם׃

26:5Reuven (Reuben), the firstborn of Yisrael; the children of Reuven: of Ḥanoch (Hanoch), the family of the Ḥanochi (Hanochites); of Pallu (Phallu), the family of the Pallu’i (Palluites);

הרְאוּבֵ֖ן בְּכ֣וֹר יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל בְּנֵ֣י רְאוּבֵ֗ן חֲנוֹךְ֙ מִשְׁפַּ֣חַת הַחֲנֹכִ֔י לְפַלּ֕וּא מִשְׁפַּ֖חַת הַפַּלֻּאִֽי׃

26:6of Ḥetzron (Hezron), the family of the Ḥetzroni (Hezronites); of Karmi (Carmi), the family of the Karmi.

ולְחֶצְרֹ֕ן מִשְׁפַּ֖חַת הַֽחֶצְרוֹנִ֑י לְכַרְמִ֕י מִשְׁפַּ֖חַת הַכַּרְמִֽי׃

26:7These are the families of the Reuveni (Reubenites); and they that were numbered of them were forty and three thousand and seven hundred and thirty.

זאֵ֖לֶּה מִשְׁפְּחֹ֣ת הָרֻֽאוּבֵנִ֑י וַיִּהְי֣וּ פְקֻדֵיהֶ֗ם שְׁלֹשָׁ֤ה וְאַרְבָּעִים֙ אֶ֔לֶף וּשְׁבַ֥ע מֵא֖וֹת וּשְׁלֹשִֽׁים׃

26:8And the sons of Pallu: Eliav (Eliab).

חוּבְנֵ֥י פַלּ֖וּא אֱלִיאָֽב׃

26:9And the sons of Eliav: Nemuel, and Datan (Dathan), and Aviram (Abiram). This is that Datan and Aviram, who were called of the congregation, who strove against Moshe and against Aharon in the company of Koraḥ (Korah), when they strove against Hashem;

טוּבְנֵ֣י אֱלִיאָ֔ב נְמוּאֵ֖ל וְדָתָ֣ן וַאֲבִירָ֑ם הֽוּא־דָתָ֨ן וַאֲבִירָ֜ם קרואי (קרי קְרִיאֵ֣י) הָעֵדָ֗ה אֲשֶׁ֨ר הִצּ֜וּ עַל־מֹשֶׁ֤ה וְעַֽל־אַהֲרֹן֙ בַּעֲדַת־קֹ֔רַח בְּהַצֹּתָ֖ם עַל־יְהוָֽה׃

26:10and the earth opened her mouth, and swallowed them up together with Koraḥ, when that company died, when the fire devoured two hundred and fifty men; and they became a sign.

יוַתִּפְתַּ֨ח הָאָ֜רֶץ אֶת־פִּ֗יהָ וַתִּבְלַ֥ע אֹתָ֛ם וְאֶת־קֹ֖רַח בְּמ֣וֹת הָעֵדָ֑ה בַּאֲכֹ֣ל הָאֵ֗שׁ אֵ֣ת חֲמִשִּׁ֤ים וּמָאתַ֨יִם֙ אִ֔ישׁ וַיִּהְי֖וּ לְנֵֽס׃

26:11Notwithstanding, the children of Koraḥ did not die.

יאוּבְנֵי־קֹ֖רַח לֹא־מֵֽתוּ׃

26:12The sons of Shimon (Simeon) after their families: of Nemuel, the family of the Nemueli (Nemuelites); of Yamin (Jamin), the family of the Yamini (Jaminites); of Yachin (Jachin), the family of the Yachini (Jachinites);

יבבְּנֵ֣י שִׁמְעוֹן֮ לְמִשְׁפְּחֹתָם֒ לִנְמוּאֵ֗ל מִשְׁפַּ֨חַת֙ הַנְּמ֣וּאֵלִ֔י לְיָמִ֕ין מִשְׁפַּ֖חַת הַיָּמִינִ֑י לְיָכִ֕ין מִשְׁפַּ֖חַת הַיָּכִינִֽי׃

26:13of Zeraḥ (Zerah), the family of the Zarḥi (Zarhites); of Shaul (Saul), the family of the Sha’uli (Shaulites).

יגלְזֶ֕רַח מִשְׁפַּ֖חַת הַזַּרְחִ֑י לְשָׁא֕וּל מִשְׁפַּ֖חַת הַשָּׁאוּלִֽי׃

26:14These are the families of the Shimoni (Simeonites), twenty and two thousand and two hundred.

ידאֵ֖לֶּה מִשְׁפְּחֹ֣ת הַשִּׁמְעֹנִ֑י שְׁנַ֧יִם וְעֶשְׂרִ֛ים אֶ֖לֶף וּמָאתָֽיִם׃

26:15The children of Gad after their families: of Tzefon (Zephon), the family of the Tzefoni (Zephonites); of Ḥaggi (Haggi), the family of the Ḥaggi; of Shuni (Shunites), the family of the Shuni;

טובְּנֵ֣י גָד֮ לְמִשְׁפְּחֹתָם֒ לִצְפ֗וֹן מִשְׁפַּ֨חַת֙ הַצְּפוֹנִ֔י לְחַגִּ֕י מִשְׁפַּ֖חַת הַֽחַגִּ֑י לְשׁוּנִ֕י מִשְׁפַּ֖חַת הַשּׁוּנִֽי׃

26:16of Ozni (Oznites), the family of the Ozni; of Eri (Erites), the family of the Eri;

טזלְאָזְנִ֕י מִשְׁפַּ֖חַת הָאָזְנִ֑י לְעֵרִ֕י מִשְׁפַּ֖חַת הָעֵרִֽי׃

26:17of Arod, the family of the Arodi (Arodites); of Ar’eli (Areli), the family of the Ar’eli.

יזלַאֲר֕וֹד מִשְׁפַּ֖חַת הָאֲרוֹדִ֑י לְאַ֨רְאֵלִ֔י מִשְׁפַּ֖חַת הָאַרְאֵלִֽי׃

26:18These are the families of the children of Gad according to those that were numbered of them, forty thousand and five hundred.

יחאֵ֛לֶּה מִשְׁפְּחֹ֥ת בְּנֵֽי־גָ֖ד לִפְקֻדֵיהֶ֑ם אַרְבָּעִ֥ים אֶ֖לֶף וַחֲמֵ֥שׁ מֵאֽוֹת׃

26:19The sons of Yehudah (Judah) were Er and Onan; and Er and Onan died in the land of Kena’an (Canaan).

יטבְּנֵ֥י יְהוּדָ֖ה עֵ֣ר וְאוֹנָ֑ן וַיָּ֥מָת עֵ֛ר וְאוֹנָ֖ן בְּאֶ֥רֶץ כְּנָֽעַן׃

26:20And the sons of Yehudah after their families were: of Shelah, the family of the Shelani (Shelanites); of Peretz (Pharez), the family of the Partzi (Pharzites); of Zeraḥ, the family of the Zarḥi.

כוַיִּהְי֣וּ בְנֵי־יְהוּדָה֮ לְמִשְׁפְּחֹתָם֒ לְשֵׁלָ֗ה מִשְׁפַּ֨חַת֙ הַשֵּׁ֣לָנִ֔י לְפֶ֕רֶץ מִשְׁפַּ֖חַת הַפַּרְצִ֑י לְזֶ֕רַח מִשְׁפַּ֖חַת הַזַּרְחִֽי׃

26:21And the sons of Peretz were: of Ḥetzron, the family of the Ḥetzroni; of Ḥamul (Hamul), the family of the Ḥamuli (Hamulites).

כאוַיִּהְי֣וּ בְנֵי־פֶ֔רֶץ לְחֶצְרֹ֕ן מִשְׁפַּ֖חַת הַֽחֶצְרֹנִ֑י לְחָמ֕וּל מִשְׁפַּ֖חַת הֶחָמוּלִֽי׃

26:22These are the families of Yehudah according to those that were numbered of them, threescore and sixteen thousand and five hundred.

כבאֵ֛לֶּה מִשְׁפְּחֹ֥ת יְהוּדָ֖ה לִפְקֻדֵיהֶ֑ם שִׁשָּׁ֧ה וְשִׁבְעִ֛ים אֶ֖לֶף וַחֲמֵ֥שׁ מֵאֽוֹת׃

26:23Of the sons of Yissachar (Issachar) after their families: of Tola, the family of the Tola’i (Tolaites); of Puvah (Pua), the family of the Puni (Punites);

כגבְּנֵ֤י יִשָּׂשכָר֙ לְמִשְׁפְּחֹתָ֔ם תּוֹלָ֕ע מִשְׁפַּ֖חַת הַתּוֹלָעִ֑י לְפֻוָ֕ה מִשְׁפַּ֖חַת הַפּוּנִֽי׃

26:24of Yashuv (Jashub), the family of the Yashuvi (Jashubites); of Shimron, the family of the Shimroni (Shimronites).

כדלְיָשׁ֕וּב מִשְׁפַּ֖חַת הַיָּשׁוּבִ֑י לְשִׁמְרֹ֕ן מִשְׁפַּ֖חַת הַשִּׁמְרֹנִֽי׃

26:25These are the families of Yissachar according to those that were numbered of them, threescore and four thousand and three hundred.

כהאֵ֛לֶּה מִשְׁפְּחֹ֥ת יִשָּׂשכָ֖ר לִפְקֻדֵיהֶ֑ם אַרְבָּעָ֧ה וְשִׁשִּׁ֛ים אֶ֖לֶף וּשְׁלֹ֥שׁ מֵאֽוֹת׃

26:26Of the sons of Zevulun (Zebulun) after their families: of Sered, the family of the Sardi (Sardites); of Elon, the family of the Eloni (Elonites); of Yaḥle’el (Jahleel), the family of the Yaḥle’eli (Jahleelites).

כובְּנֵ֣י זְבוּלֻן֮ לְמִשְׁפְּחֹתָם֒ לְסֶ֗רֶד מִשְׁפַּ֨חַת֙ הַסַּרְדִּ֔י לְאֵל֕וֹן מִשְׁפַּ֖חַת הָאֵלֹנִ֑י לְיַ֨חְלְאֵ֔ל מִשְׁפַּ֖חַת הַיַּחְלְאֵלִֽי׃

26:27These are the families of the Zevuloni (Zebulunites) according to those that were numbered of them, threescore thousand and five hundred.

כזאֵ֛לֶּה מִשְׁפְּחֹ֥ת הַזְּבוּלֹנִ֖י לִפְקֻדֵיהֶ֑ם שִׁשִּׁ֥ים אֶ֖לֶף וַחֲמֵ֥שׁ מֵאֽוֹת׃

26:28The sons of Yosef (Joseph) after their families were Menasheh (Manasseh) and Efrayim (Ephraim).

כחבְּנֵ֥י יוֹסֵ֖ף לְמִשְׁפְּחֹתָ֑ם מְנַשֶּׁ֖ה וְאֶפְרָֽיִם׃

26:29Of the sons of Menasheh: of Machir, the family of the Machiri (Machirites); and Machir begot Gil’ad (Gilead); of Gil’ad comes the family of the Gil’adi (Gileadites).

כטבְּנֵ֣י מְנַשֶּׁ֗ה לְמָכִיר֙ מִשְׁפַּ֣חַת הַמָּכִירִ֔י וּמָכִ֖יר הוֹלִ֣יד אֶת־גִּלְעָ֑ד לְגִלְעָ֕ד מִשְׁפַּ֖חַת הַגִּלְעָדִֽי׃

26:30These are the sons of Gil’ad: of I’ezer (Jeezer), the family of the I’ezri (Jeezerites); of Ḥelek (Helek), the family of the Ḥelki (Helekites);

לאֵ֚לֶּה בְּנֵ֣י גִלְעָ֔ד אִיעֶ֕זֶר מִשְׁפַּ֖חַת הָאִֽיעֶזְרִ֑י לְחֵ֕לֶק מִשְׁפַּ֖חַת הַֽחֶלְקִֽי׃

26:31and of Asriel, the family of the Asri’eli (Asrielites); and of Shechem (Sichem), the family of the Shichmi (Shechemites);

לאוְאַ֨שְׂרִיאֵ֔ל מִשְׁפַּ֖חַת הָֽאַשְׂרִֽאֵלִ֑י וְשֶׁ֕כֶם מִשְׁפַּ֖חַת הַשִּׁכְמִֽי׃

26:32and of Shemida, the family of the Shemida’i (Shemidaites); and of Ḥefer (Hepher), the family of the Ḥefri (Hepherites).

לבוּשְׁמִידָ֕ע מִשְׁפַּ֖חַת הַשְּׁמִידָעִ֑י וְחֵ֕פֶר מִשְׁפַּ֖חַת הַֽחֶפְרִֽי׃

26:33And Tzelofḥad (Zelophehad) the son of Ḥefer had no sons, but daughters; and the names of the daughters of Tzelofḥad were Maḥlah (Mahlah), and No’ah (Noah), Ḥoglah (Hoglah), Milkah (Milcah), and Tirtzah (Tirzah).

לגוּצְלָפְחָ֣ד בֶּן־חֵ֗פֶר לֹא־הָ֥יוּ ל֛וֹ בָּנִ֖ים כִּ֣י אִם־בָּנ֑וֹת וְשֵׁם֙ בְּנ֣וֹת צְלָפְחָ֔ד מַחְלָ֣ה וְנֹעָ֔ה חָגְלָ֥ה מִלְכָּ֖ה וְתִרְצָֽה׃

26:34These are the families of Menasheh, and those that were numbered of them, fifty and two thousand and seven hundred.

לדאֵ֖לֶּה מִשְׁפְּחֹ֣ת מְנַשֶּׁ֑ה וּפְקֻ֣דֵיהֶ֔ם שְׁנַ֧יִם וַחֲמִשִּׁ֛ים אֶ֖לֶף וּשְׁבַ֥ע מֵאֽוֹת׃

26:35These are the sons of Efrayim after their families: of Shutelaḥ (Shuthelah), the family of the Shutalḥi (Shuthalhites); of Becher, the family of the Bachri (Bachrites); of Taḥan (Tahan), the family of the Taḥani (Tahanites).

להאֵ֣לֶּה בְנֵי־אֶפְרַיִם֮ לְמִשְׁפְּחֹתָם֒ לְשׁוּתֶ֗לַח מִשְׁפַּ֨חַת֙ הַשֻּׁ֣תַלְחִ֔י לְבֶ֕כֶר מִשְׁפַּ֖חַת הַבַּכְרִ֑י לְתַ֕חַן מִשְׁפַּ֖חַת הַֽתַּחֲנִֽי׃

26:36And these are the sons of Shutelaḥ: of Eran, the family of the Erani (Eranites).

לווְאֵ֖לֶּה בְּנֵ֣י שׁוּתָ֑לַח לְעֵרָ֕ן מִשְׁפַּ֖חַת הָעֵרָנִֽי׃

26:37These are the families of the sons of Efrayim according to those that were numbered of them, thirty and two thousand and five hundred. These are the sons of Yosef after their families.

לזאֵ֣לֶּה מִשְׁפְּחֹ֤ת בְּנֵי־אֶפְרַ֨יִם֙ לִפְקֻ֣דֵיהֶ֔ם שְׁנַ֧יִם וּשְׁלֹשִׁ֛ים אֶ֖לֶף וַחֲמֵ֣שׁ מֵא֑וֹת אֵ֥לֶּה בְנֵי־יוֹסֵ֖ף לְמִשְׁפְּחֹתָֽם׃

26:38The sons of Binyamin (Benjamin) after their families: of Bela (Belah), the family of the Bal’i (Belaites); of Ashbel, the family of the Ashbeli (Ashbelites); of Aḥiram (Ahiram), the family of the Aḥirami (Ahiramites);

לחבְּנֵ֣י בִנְיָמִן֮ לְמִשְׁפְּחֹתָם֒ לְבֶ֗לַע מִשְׁפַּ֨חַת֙ הַבַּלְעִ֔י לְאַשְׁבֵּ֕ל מִשְׁפַּ֖חַת הָֽאַשְׁבֵּלִ֑י לַאֲחִירָ֕ם מִשְׁפַּ֖חַת הָאֲחִירָמִֽי׃

26:39of Shefufam (Shupham), the family of the Shufami (Shuphamites); of Ḥufam (Hupham), the family of the Ḥufami (Huphamites).

לטלִשְׁפוּפָ֕ם מִשְׁפַּ֖חַת הַשּׁוּפָמִ֑י לְחוּפָ֕ם מִשְׁפַּ֖חַת הַחוּפָמִֽי׃

26:40And the sons of Bela were Ard and Naaman: of Ard, the family of the Ardi (Ardites); and of Naaman, the family of the Na’ami (Naamites).

מוַיִּהְי֥וּ בְנֵי־בֶ֖לַע אַ֣רְדְּ וְנַעֲמָ֑ן מִשְׁפַּ֨חַת֙ הָֽאַרְדִּ֔י לְנַֽעֲמָ֔ן מִשְׁפַּ֖חַת הַֽנַּעֲמִֽי׃

26:41These are the sons of Binyamin after their families; and they that were numbered of them were forty and five thousand and six hundred.

מאאֵ֥לֶּה בְנֵי־בִנְיָמִ֖ן לְמִשְׁפְּחֹתָ֑ם וּפְקֻ֣דֵיהֶ֔ם חֲמִשָּׁ֧ה וְאַרְבָּעִ֛ים אֶ֖לֶף וְשֵׁ֥שׁ מֵאֽוֹת׃

26:42These are the sons of Dan after their families: of Shuḥam (Shuham), the family of the Shuḥami (Shuhamites). These are the families of Dan after their families.

מבאֵ֤לֶּה בְנֵי־דָן֙ לְמִשְׁפְּחֹתָ֔ם לְשׁוּחָ֕ם מִשְׁפַּ֖חַת הַשּׁוּחָמִ֑י אֵ֛לֶּה מִשְׁפְּחֹ֥ת דָּ֖ן לְמִשְׁפְּחֹתָֽם׃

26:43All the families of the Shuḥami, according to those that were numbered of them, were threescore and four thousand and four hundred.

מגכָּל־מִשְׁפְּחֹ֥ת הַשּׁוּחָמִ֖י לִפְקֻדֵיהֶ֑ם אַרְבָּעָ֧ה וְשִׁשִּׁ֛ים אֶ֖לֶף וְאַרְבַּ֥ע מֵאֽוֹת׃

26:44Of the children of Asher after their families: of Yimnah (Jimna), the family of the Yimnah; of Yishvi (Jesui), the family of the Yishvi; of Beri’ah (Beriah), the family of the Beri’i (Beriites).

מדבְּנֵ֣י אָשֵׁר֮ לְמִשְׁפְּחֹתָם֒ לְיִמְנָ֗ה מִשְׁפַּ֨חַת֙ הַיִּמְנָ֔ה לְיִשְׁוִ֕י מִשְׁפַּ֖חַת הַיִּשְׁוִ֑י לִבְרִיעָ֕ה מִשְׁפַּ֖חַת הַבְּרִיעִֽי׃

26:45Of the sons of Beri’ah: of Ḥever (Heber), the family of the Ḥevri (Heberites); of Malki’el (Malchiel), the family of the Malki’eli (Malchielites).

מהלִבְנֵ֣י בְרִיעָ֔ה לְחֶ֕בֶר מִשְׁפַּ֖חַת הַֽחֶבְרִ֑י לְמַ֨לְכִּיאֵ֔ל מִשְׁפַּ֖חַת הַמַּלְכִּיאֵלִֽי׃

26:46And the name of the daughter of Asher was Seraḥ (Sarah).

מווְשֵׁ֥ם בַּת־אָשֵׁ֖ר שָֽׂרַח׃

26:47These are the families of the sons of Asher according to those that were numbered of them, who were fifty and three thousand and four hundred.

מזאֵ֛לֶּה מִשְׁפְּחֹ֥ת בְּנֵי־אָשֵׁ֖ר לִפְקֻדֵיהֶ֑ם שְׁלֹשָׁ֧ה וַחֲמִשִּׁ֛ים אֶ֖לֶף וְאַרְבַּ֥ע מֵאֽוֹת׃

26:48Of the sons of Naftali (Naphtali) after their families: of Yaḥtze’el (Jahzeel), the family of the Yaḥtze’eli (Jahzeelites); of Guni (Gunites), the family of the Guni;

מחבְּנֵ֤י נַפְתָּלִי֙ לְמִשְׁפְּחֹתָ֔ם לְיַ֨חְצְאֵ֔ל מִשְׁפַּ֖חַת הַיַּחְצְאֵלִ֑י לְגוּנִ֕י מִשְׁפַּ֖חַת הַגּוּנִֽי׃

26:49of Yetzer (Jezer), the family of the Yitzri (Jezerites); of Shillem, the family of the Shillemi (Shillemites).

מטלְיֵ֕צֶר מִשְׁפַּ֖חַת הַיִּצְרִ֑י לְשִׁלֵּ֕ם מִשְׁפַּ֖חַת הַשִּׁלֵּמִֽי׃

26:50These are the families of Naftali according to their families; and they that were numbered of them were forty and five thousand and four hundred.

נאֵ֛לֶּה מִשְׁפְּחֹ֥ת נַפְתָּלִ֖י לְמִשְׁפְּחֹתָ֑ם וּפְקֻ֣דֵיהֶ֔ם חֲמִשָּׁ֧ה וְאַרְבָּעִ֛ים אֶ֖לֶף וְאַרְבַּ֥ע מֵאֽוֹת׃

26:51These were the numbered of the children of Yisrael, six hundred thousand and a thousand seven hundred and thirty.

נאאֵ֗לֶּה פְּקוּדֵי֙ בְּנֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל שֵׁשׁ־מֵא֥וֹת אֶ֖לֶף וָאָ֑לֶף שְׁבַ֥ע מֵא֖וֹת וּשְׁלֹשִֽׁים׃

26:52And Hashem spoke unto Moshe, saying,

נבוַיְדַבֵּ֥ר יְהוָ֖ה אֶל־מֹשֶׁ֥ה לֵּאמֹֽר׃

26:53“Unto these the land shall be divided for an inheritance according to the number of names.

נגלָאֵ֗לֶּה תֵּחָלֵ֥ק הָאָ֛רֶץ בְּנַחֲלָ֖ה בְּמִסְפַּ֥ר שֵׁמֽוֹת׃

26:54To the many you shall give the more inheritance, and to the few you shall give the less inheritance; to every one shall his inheritance be given according to those that were numbered of him.

נדלָרַ֗ב תַּרְבֶּה֙ נַחֲלָת֔וֹ וְלַמְעַ֕ט תַּמְעִ֖יט נַחֲלָת֑וֹ אִ֚ישׁ לְפִ֣י פְקֻדָ֔יו יֻתַּ֖ן נַחֲלָתֽוֹ׃

26:55Notwithstanding, the land shall be divided by lot; according to the names of the tribes of their fathers they shall inherit.

נהאַךְ־בְּגוֹרָ֕ל יֵחָלֵ֖ק אֶת־הָאָ֑רֶץ לִשְׁמ֥וֹת מַטּוֹת־אֲבֹתָ֖ם יִנְחָֽלוּ׃

26:56According to the lot shall its possession be divided between many and few.”

נועַל־פִּי֙ הַגּוֹרָ֔ל תֵּחָלֵ֖ק נַחֲלָת֑וֹ בֵּ֥ין רַ֖ב לִמְעָֽט׃

26:57And these are they that were numbered of the Levi’im (Levites) after their families: of Gershon, the family of the Gershuni (Gershonites); of Kehat (Kohath), the family of the Kehati (Kohathites); of Merari (Merarites), the family of the Merari.

נזוְאֵ֨לֶּה פְקוּדֵ֣י הַלֵּוִי֮ לְמִשְׁפְּחֹתָם֒ לְגֵרְשׁ֗וֹן מִשְׁפַּ֨חַת֙ הַגֵּ֣רְשֻׁנִּ֔י לִקְהָ֕ת מִשְׁפַּ֖חַת הַקְּהָתִ֑י לִמְרָרִ֕י מִשְׁפַּ֖חַת הַמְּרָרִֽי׃

26:58These are the families of the Levi’im: the family of the Livni (Libnites), the family of the Ḥevroni (Hebronites), the family of the Maḥli (Mahlites), the family of the Mushi (Mushites), the family of the Korḥi (Korathites). And Kehat begot Amram.

נחאֵ֣לֶּה ׀ מִשְׁפְּחֹ֣ת לֵוִ֗י מִשְׁפַּ֨חַת הַלִּבְנִ֜י מִשְׁפַּ֤חַת הַֽחֶבְרֹנִי֙ מִשְׁפַּ֤חַת הַמַּחְלִי֙ מִשְׁפַּ֣חַת הַמּוּשִׁ֔י מִשְׁפַּ֖חַת הַקָּרְחִ֑י וּקְהָ֖ת הוֹלִ֥ד אֶת־עַמְרָֽם׃

26:59And the name of Amram’s wife was Yocheved (Jochebed), the daughter of Levi, who was born to Levi in Mitzrayim; and she bore unto Amram Aharon and Moshe, and Miriam their sister.

נטוְשֵׁ֣ם ׀ אֵ֣שֶׁת עַמְרָ֗ם יוֹכֶ֨בֶד֙ בַּת־לֵוִ֔י אֲשֶׁ֨ר יָלְדָ֥ה אֹתָ֛הּ לְלֵוִ֖י בְּמִצְרָ֑יִם וַתֵּ֣לֶד לְעַמְרָ֗ם אֶֽת־אַהֲרֹן֙ וְאֶת־מֹשֶׁ֔ה וְאֵ֖ת מִרְיָ֥ם אֲחֹתָֽם׃

26:60And unto Aharon were born Nadav (Nadab) and Avihu (Abihu), Elazar and Itamar (Ithamar).

סוַיִּוָּלֵ֣ד לְאַהֲרֹ֔ן אֶת־נָדָ֖ב וְאֶת־אֲבִיה֑וּא אֶת־אֶלְעָזָ֖ר וְאֶת־אִיתָמָֽר׃

26:61And Nadav and Avihu died, when they offered strange fire before Hashem.

סאוַיָּ֥מָת נָדָ֖ב וַאֲבִיה֑וּא בְּהַקְרִיבָ֥ם אֵשׁ־זָרָ֖ה לִפְנֵ֥י יְהוָֽה׃

26:62And those that were numbered of them were twenty and three thousand, all males from a month old and upward; for they were not numbered among the children of Yisrael, because there was no inheritance given them among the children of Yisrael.

סבוַיִּהְי֣וּ פְקֻדֵיהֶ֗ם שְׁלֹשָׁ֤ה וְעֶשְׂרִים֙ אֶ֔לֶף כָּל־זָכָ֖ר מִבֶּן־חֹ֣דֶשׁ וָמָ֑עְלָה כִּ֣י ׀ לֹ֣א הָתְפָּקְד֗וּ בְּתוֹךְ֙ בְּנֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל כִּ֠י לֹא־נִתַּ֤ן לָהֶם֙ נַחֲלָ֔ה בְּת֖וֹךְ בְּנֵ֥י יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃

26:63These are they that were numbered by Moshe and Elazar the priest, who numbered the children of Yisrael in the plains of Moav by the Yarden near Yeriḥo.

סגאֵ֚לֶּה פְּקוּדֵ֣י מֹשֶׁ֔ה וְאֶלְעָזָ֖ר הַכֹּהֵ֑ן אֲשֶׁ֨ר פָּֽקְד֜וּ אֶת־בְּנֵ֤י יִשְׂרָאֵל֙ בְּעַֽרְבֹ֣ת מוֹאָ֔ב עַ֖ל יַרְדֵּ֥ן יְרֵחֽוֹ׃

26:64But among these there was not a man of them whom Moshe and Aharon the priest numbered, when they numbered the children of Yisrael in the wilderness of Sinai.

סדוּבְאֵ֨לֶּה֙ לֹא־הָ֣יָה אִ֔ישׁ מִפְּקוּדֵ֣י מֹשֶׁ֔ה וְאַהֲרֹ֖ן הַכֹּהֵ֑ן אֲשֶׁ֥ר פָּקְד֛וּ אֶת־בְּנֵ֥י יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל בְּמִדְבַּ֥ר סִינָֽי׃

26:65For Hashem had said of them, “They shall surely die in the wilderness.” And there was not left a man of them, except Kalev (Caleb) the son of Yefunneh (Jephunneh), and Yehoshua (Joshua) the son of Nun.

סהכִּֽי־אָמַ֤ר יְהוָה֙ לָהֶ֔ם מ֥וֹת יָמֻ֖תוּ בַּמִּדְבָּ֑ר וְלֹא־נוֹתַ֤ר מֵהֶם֙ אִ֔ישׁ כִּ֚י אִם־כָּלֵ֣ב בֶּן־יְפֻנֶּ֔ה וִיהוֹשֻׁ֖עַ בִּן־נֽוּן׃
