2 Thessalonians, Chapter 3
Paul asks the Thessalonians to pray for him and trusts the Master to keep them. He commands them to withdraw from any brother who walks disorderly and will not work, reminding them that he laboured night and day as an example, and closes with a greeting in his own hand and a blessing.
3:1Finally, brethren, pray for us, that the word of the Lord may have free course, and be glorified, even as it is with you:
3:2And that we may be delivered from unreasonable and wicked men: for all men have not faith.
καὶ ἵνα ῥυσθῶμεν ἀπὸ τῶν ἀτόπων καὶ πονηρῶν ἀνθρώπων· οὐ γὰρ πάντων ἡ πίστις.
בשנית, התפללו שלא ניפול בידי אנשים רשעים, שהרי לא כולם אוהבים את האדון.
3:3But the Master is faithful, who shall stablish you, and keep you from evil.
πιστὸς δέ ἐστιν ὁ Κύριος, ὃς στηρίξει ὑμᾶς καὶ φυλάξει ἀπὸ τοῦ πονηροῦ.
גאך אתם יכולים לסמוך על האדון שיחזק וישמור אתכם מכל רע.
3:4And we have confidence in the Master touching you, that you both do and will do the things which we command you.
πεποίθαμεν δὲ ἐν Κυρίῳ ἐφ’ ὑμᾶς, ὅτι ἃ παραγγέλλομεν ὑμῖν, καὶ ποιεῖτε καὶ ποιήσετε.
דהאדון גם העניק לנו את הביטחון שאתם מקיימים הלכה למעשה את מה שלימדנו אתכם, ואף שתמשיכו בכך בעתיד.
3:5And the Master direct your hearts into the love of God, and into the patient waiting for Messiah.
ὁ δὲ Κύριος κατευθύναι ὑμῶν τὰς καρδίας εἰς τὴν ἀγάπην τοῦ Θεοῦ, καὶ εἰς τὴν ὑπομονὴν τοῦ Χριστοῦ.
הוהאדון ישוע יכשיר את לבבכם להבין את משמעותה ועומקה של אהבת אלוהים וסבלנותו של המשיח.
3:6Now we command you, brethren, in the name of our Master Yeshua (Jesus) the Messiah, that you withdraw yourselves from every brother that walks disorderly, and not after the tradition which he received of us.
3:7For yourselves know how you ought to follow us: for we behaved not ourselves disorderly among you;
αὐτοὶ γὰρ οἴδατε πῶς δεῖ μιμεῖσθαι ἡμᾶς· ὅτι οὐκ ἠτακτήσαμεν ἐν ὑμῖν,
זאתם יודעים היטב שעליכם להתנהג כמונו, שכן מעולם לא ראיתם אותנו סוטים מהדרך הנכונה;
3:8Neither did we eat any man’s bread for nought; but wrought with labour and travail night and day, that we might not be chargeable to any of you:
3:9Not because we have not power, but to make ourselves an ensample unto you to follow us.
οὐχ ὅτι οὐκ ἔχομεν ἐξουσίαν, ἀλλ’ ἵνα ἑαυτοὺς τύπον δῶμεν ὑμῖν εἰς τὸ μιμεῖσθαι ἡμᾶς.
טאל תחשבו שלא הייתה לנו הזכות לבקש מכם לספק את מזוננו – פשוט רצינו להראות לכם כיצד עליכם לעבוד לפרנסתכם.
3:10For even when we were with you, this we commanded you, that if any would not work, neither should he eat.
καὶ γὰρ ὅτε ἦμεν πρὸς ὑμᾶς, τοῦτο παρηγγέλλομεν ὑμῖν ὅτι Εἴ τις οὐ θέλει ἐργάζεσθαι, μηδὲ ἐσθιέτω.
יעוד בהיותנו אצלכם ביקשנו מכם לשמור על העיקרון: ”מי שלא יעבוד לא יאכל!“
3:11For we hear that there are some which walk among you disorderly, working not at all, but are busybodies.
ἀκούομεν γάρ τινας περιπατοῦντας ἐν ὑμῖν ἀτάκτως, μηδὲν ἐργαζομένους, ἀλλὰ περιεργαζομένους.
יאאך בכל זאת אנו שומעים כי יש ביניכם טפילים עצלים, המסרבים לעבוד ומבזבזים את זמנם ברכילות וחרחורי־ריב.
3:12Now them that are such we command and exhort by our Master Yeshua the Messiah, that with quietness they work, and eat their own bread.
3:13But you, brethren, be not weary in well doing.
ὑμεῖς δέ, ἀδελφοί, μὴ ἐκκακήσητε καλοποιοῦντες.
יגולשאר האחים אני אומר: לעולם אל תתייאשו ואל תפסיקו לעשות מעשים טובים.
3:14And if any man obey not our word by this epistle, note that man, and have no company with him, that he may be ashamed.
εἰ δέ τις οὐχ ὑπακούει τῷ λόγῳ ἡμῶν διὰ τῆς ἐπιστολῆς, τοῦτον σημειοῦσθε, καὶ μὴ συναναμίγνυσθε αὐτῷ, ἵνα ἐντραπῇ,
ידגרשו מקרבכם את מי שמסרב לשמוע לדברינו שכתובים במכתב זה, כדי שיתבייש בעצמו.
3:15Yet count him not as an enemy, but admonish him as a brother.
καὶ μὴ ὡς ἐχθρὸν ἡγεῖσθε, ἀλλὰ νουθετεῖτε ὡς ἀδελφόν.
טואל תתייחסו אליו כאל אויב, אלא כאל אח תועה שיש להזהירו ולהחזירו לדרך הישר.
3:16Now the Master of peace Himself give you peace always by all means. The Master be with you all.
Αὐτὸς δὲ ὁ Κύριος τῆς εἰρήνης δῴη ὑμῖν τὴν εἰρήνην διὰ παντὸς ἐν παντὶ τρόπῳ. ὁ Κύριος μετὰ πάντων ὑμῶν.
טזואדון השלום בעצמו יעניק לכם את שלומו בכל עת ובכל מקום. יהיה האדון עם כולכם.
3:17The greeting of Paul with my own hand, which is the token in every epistle: so I write.
3:18The grace of our Master Yeshua the Messiah be with you all. Amen.
ἡ χάρις τοῦ Κυρίου ἡμῶν Ἰησοῦ Χριστοῦ μετὰ πάντων ὑμῶν. ἀμήν.

Sources & method
- English translation
- The King James Version (public domain), lightly modernized by Benei Avraham: “thee/thou/ye” become “you,” older verb forms are updated, and archaic words are replaced only where the meaning would otherwise be unclear. People and places with Hebrew names carry them, with the King James spelling in parentheses the first time on each page (e.g., Yeshua (Jesus)); Greek and Roman names keep their English form. Christ is “Messiah”; Lord, used of Yeshua, is “Master”; where the Greek has Kyrios for God, the English keeps “the Lord.” “Church” is “congregation,” “baptize” is “immerse,” and the Holy Ghost is “the Holy Spirit.”

Changes: shown verse by verse beside the English and Greek, without its section headings and footnotes; where it joins verses, the later verse points to the joined one; 3 John 15 is shown with verse 14.
