John, Chapter 2
At a wedding in Kanah of Galil, Yeshua turns water into wine, the first of His miracles, and His disciples believe on Him. At the Passover in Yerushalayim He drives the sellers and money changers out of the temple and speaks of raising up the temple of His body in three days.
2:1And the third day there was a marriage in Kanah (Cana) of Galil (Galilee); and the mother of Yeshua (Jesus) was there:
2:2And both Yeshua was called, and His disciples, to the marriage.

2:3And when they wanted wine, the mother of Yeshua says unto Him, “They have no wine.”
2:4Yeshua says unto her, “Woman, what have I to do with you? My hour is not yet come.”
2:5His mother says unto the servants, “Whatsoever He says unto you, do it.”
2:6And there were set there six waterpots of stone, after the manner of the purifying of the Jews, containing two or three firkins apiece.
2:7Yeshua says unto them, “Fill the waterpots with water.” And they filled them up to the brim.
2:8And He says unto them, “Draw out now, and bear unto the governor of the feast.” And they bore it.
2:9When the ruler of the feast had tasted the water that was made wine, and knew not whence it was: (but the servants which drew the water knew;) the governor of the feast called the bridegroom,
2:10And says unto him, “Every man at the beginning does set forth good wine; and when men have well drunk, then that which is worse: but you have kept the good wine until now.”
2:11This beginning of miracles did Yeshua in Kanah of Galil, and manifested forth His glory; and His disciples believed on Him.
2:12After this He went down to Kefar Naḥum (Capernaum), He, and His mother, and His brethren, and His disciples: and they continued there not many days.
2:13And the Jews’ passover was at hand, and Yeshua went up to Yerushalayim (Jerusalem),
2:14And found in the temple those that sold oxen and sheep and doves, and the changers of money sitting:
2:15And when He had made a scourge of small cords, He drove them all out of the temple, and the sheep, and the oxen; and poured out the changers’ money, and overthrew the tables;
2:16And said unto them that sold doves, “Take these things hence; make not My Father’s house a house of merchandise.”
2:17And His disciples remembered that it was written, “The zeal of Your house has eaten Me up.”
2:18Then answered the Jews and said unto Him, “What sign show You unto us, seeing that You do these things?”
ἀπεκρίθησαν οὖν οἱ Ἰουδαῖοι καὶ εἶπον αὐτῷ, Τί σημεῖον δεικνύεις ἡμῖν, ὅτι ταῦτα ποιεῖς;
2:19Yeshua answered and said unto them, “Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up.”
2:20Then said the Jews, “Forty and six years was this temple in building, and will You rear it up in three days?”
εἶπον οὖν οἱ Ἰουδαῖοι, Τεσσαράκοντα καὶ ἕξ ἔτεσιν ᾠκοδομήθη ὁ ναὸς οὗτος, καὶ σὺ ἐν τρισὶν ἡμέραις ἐγερεῖς αὐτόν;
2:21But He spoke of the temple of His body.
2:22When therefore He was risen from the dead, His disciples remembered that He had said this unto them; and they believed the scripture, and the word which Yeshua had said.
2:23Now when He was in Yerushalayim at the passover, in the feast day, many believed in His name, when they saw the miracles which He did.
2:24But Yeshua did not commit Himself unto them, because He knew all men,
2:25And needed not that any should testify of man: for He knew what was in man.

Sources & method
- English translation
- The King James Version (public domain), lightly modernized by Benei Avraham: “thee/thou/ye” become “you,” older verb forms are updated, and archaic words are replaced only where the meaning would otherwise be unclear. People and places with Hebrew names carry them, with the King James spelling in parentheses the first time on each page (e.g., Yeshua (Jesus)); Greek and Roman names keep their English form. Christ is “Messiah”; Lord, used of Yeshua, is “Master”; where the Greek has Kyrios for God, the English keeps “the Lord.” “Church” is “congregation,” “baptize” is “immerse,” and the Holy Ghost is “the Holy Spirit.”
