Jubilees, Chapter 36
Yitzḥak tells Esav and Yaakov where to bury him, commands them to do righteousness, reject idols and love one another, and makes them swear a great oath; Esav gives the larger portion to Yaakov, Yitzḥak dies at a hundred and eighty, and later Leah dies and Yaakov mourns her.
36:1And in the sixth year of this week Yitzḥak (Isaac) called his two sons Esav (Esau) and Yaakov (Jacob), and they came to him, and he said unto them, “My sons, I am going the way of my fathers, to the eternal house where my fathers are.

36:10But on the day of turbulence and execration and indignation and anger, with flaming devouring fire as He burnt Sedom (Sodom), so likewise will He burn his land and his city and all that is his, and he shall be blotted out of the book of the discipline of the children of men, and not be recorded in the book of life, but in that which is appointed to destruction, and he shall depart into eternal execration; so that their condemnation may be always renewed in hate and in execration and in wrath and in torment and in indignation and in plagues and in disease forever.

Sources & method
- English translation
- R. H. Charles, The Apocrypha and Pseudepigrapha of the Old Testament (Oxford, 1913), public domain, lightly modernized by Benei Avraham in the same way as our Bible pages: “thee/thou” become “you,” older verb forms are updated, people and places carry their Hebrew names with the familiar English name in parentheses the first time on each page, and “the Lord” (God) is written “Hashem.” Charles’s editorial dates are given in the notes. Digital text from the CrossWire Bible Society’s SWORD module (public domain).
- Spanish translation
- Translated by Benei Avraham from the English column, in the style of our Reina-Valera pages: Hashem for the Divine Name, Elohim for God, and Hebrew names. There is no public-domain Spanish translation of this book. Choose a translation with the Language drop-down; the choice is remembered on this device.
- Ge’ez text
- Ge’ez (classical Ethiopic) is the language of the Ethiopian Bible and the only language in which the whole book has survived; it was translated from Greek, which was translated from the lost Hebrew original. The text is August Dillmann’s edition (19th century, public domain) as published in the EOTCOpenSource Bible dataset. Verse numbers follow Charles; where Dillmann’s numbering joins two verses, the later verse says so.
