Text (469) 608-9944Leviticus, Chapter 3
The law of the peace offering from the herd, from the lambs, or from the goats, the hand laid on its head, the blood sprinkled on the altar, and the fat and kidneys burnt as food of the offering, with a perpetual statute that Yisrael eat neither fat nor blood.
3:1“And if his oblation is a sacrifice of peace offering, if he offers it of the herd, whether it is a male or female, he shall offer it without blemish before Hashem.
אוְאִם־זֶ֥בַח שְׁלָמִ֖ים קָרְבָּנ֑וֹ אִ֤ם מִן־הַבָּקָר֙ ה֣וּא מַקְרִ֔יב אִם־זָכָר֙ אִם־נְקֵבָ֔ה תָּמִ֥ים יַקְרִיבֶ֖נּוּ לִפְנֵ֥י יְהוָֽה׃
3:2And he shall lay his hand upon the head of his offering, and kill it at the door of the tabernacle of the congregation; and Aharon’s sons the priests shall sprinkle the blood upon the altar round about.
בוְסָמַ֤ךְ יָדוֹ֙ עַל־רֹ֣אשׁ קָרְבָּנ֔וֹ וּשְׁחָט֕וֹ פֶּ֖תַח אֹ֣הֶל מוֹעֵ֑ד וְזָרְק֡וּ בְּנֵי֩ אַהֲרֹ֨ן הַכֹּהֲנִ֧ים אֶת־הַדָּ֛ם עַל־הַמִּזְבֵּ֖חַ סָבִֽיב׃
3:3And he shall offer of the sacrifice of the peace offering an offering made by fire unto Hashem: the fat that covers the inwards, and all the fat that is upon the inwards,

3:4and the two kidneys, and the fat that is on them, which is by the flanks, and the caul above the liver, with the kidneys, he shall take away.

3:5And Aharon’s sons shall burn it on the altar upon the burnt sacrifice, which is upon the wood that is on the fire. It is an offering made by fire, of a sweet savor unto Hashem.

Sources & method
- Hebrew text
- The Masoretic text with vowels (nikkud) and cantillation marks (ta’amim), from the Westminster Leningrad Codex (public domain) as published by the Open Scriptures Hebrew Bible (CC BY 4.0). Where the written text (ketiv) differs from the reading (qere), the reading is shown and the written form follows in small type. A paragraph mark (ס or פ) inside a verse is shown in small type.
- English translation
- The King James Version (public domain), lightly modernized by Benei Avraham: “thee/thou/ye” become “you,” older verb forms are updated (“hath” to “has”), and archaic words are replaced only where the meaning would otherwise be unclear. People and places carry their Hebrew names, with the King James spelling in parentheses the first time on each page (e.g., Yehudah (Judah)). The Divine Name (יהוה, “the LORD” in the KJV) is written “Hashem”; “God” (Elohim) is unchanged, and “law” is “Torah” where the Hebrew is תּוֹרָה.
- Verse numbers
- Verse numbers follow the Hebrew Bible. In Leviticus they differ from most English Bibles, or a verse is divided differently, in chapters 5 and 6; a note under the summary on those pages explains how.
