Jubilees, Chapter 10
Evil spirits lead Noaḥ’s grandsons astray, and at Noaḥ’s prayer nine parts of them are bound and Noaḥ is taught healing with herbs; Noaḥ dies; Hashem confounds the language of the builders of the tower in Shinar; and Kena’an seizes the land of Lebanon, which had fallen to Shem.
10:1And in the third week of this jubilee the unclean demons began to lead astray the children of the sons of Noaḥ (Noah), and to make them err and to destroy them.
10:1Y en la tercera semana de este jubileo los demonios inmundos comenzaron a extraviar a los hijos de los hijos de Nóaj (Noé), y a hacerlos errar y a destruirlos.

10:3And he prayed before Hashem his God, and said, “God of the spirits of all flesh, who have shown mercy unto me, and have saved me and my sons from the waters of the flood, and have not caused me to perish as You did the sons of perdition; for Your grace has been great towards me, and great has been Your mercy to my soul; let Your grace be lifted up upon my sons, and let not wicked spirits rule over them, lest they should destroy them from the earth.

Sources & method
- English translation
- R. H. Charles, The Apocrypha and Pseudepigrapha of the Old Testament (Oxford, 1913), public domain, lightly modernized by Benei Avraham in the same way as our Bible pages: “thee/thou” become “you,” older verb forms are updated, people and places carry their Hebrew names with the familiar English name in parentheses the first time on each page, and “the Lord” (God) is written “Hashem.” Charles’s editorial dates are given in the notes. Digital text from the CrossWire Bible Society’s SWORD module (public domain).
- Spanish translation
- Translated by Benei Avraham from the English column, in the style of our Reina-Valera pages: Hashem for the Divine Name, Elohim for God, and Hebrew names. There is no public-domain Spanish translation of this book. Choose a translation with the Language drop-down; the choice is remembered on this device.
- Ge’ez text
- Ge’ez (classical Ethiopic) is the language of the Ethiopian Bible and the only language in which the whole book has survived; it was translated from Greek, which was translated from the lost Hebrew original. The text is August Dillmann’s edition (19th century, public domain) as published in the EOTCOpenSource Bible dataset. Verse numbers follow Charles; where Dillmann’s numbering joins two verses, the later verse says so.
- Quiz
- Written by Benei Avraham for middle-school readers (ages 11–14). Each quiz starts with easier questions and gets harder. Every answer is in the chapter on this page. Answers and scores are kept only in this browser (local storage) and can be cleared with Start over.
