AmidahAmidá

Ideally, the Amidah is first said in a whispered voice by everyone (one of the names for the Amidah is “The Whispered Prayer”), and then once out loud by the Khazzan if there is minyan. Rambam allows for a single reading out loud by the Khazzan, without repetition, for certain exceptions, as Baladee Yemenites do. Take three steps forward towards Yerushalayim to approach the King of Kings and whisper the Amidah with focused devotion, and then the Khazzan will repeat the Amidah out loud.

Holiness of the Day: Atah EchadSantidad del día: Atá Ejad

On Shabbat afternoon the middle blessing of the Amidah begins “Atah Echad” (“You are One”).En la tarde de Shabat, la bendición intermedia de la Amidá comienza «Atá Ejad» («Tú eres Uno»).

You are One and your name is One, and who is like your people Yisra'el, one nation on the earth? A glory of greatness and a crown of salvation, a day of rest and holiness you have given to your people. Avraham would rejoice, Yitzhak would sing for joy, Ya'akov and his sons would rest on it: a rest of love and generosity, a rest of truth and faithfulness, a rest of peace and tranquility, quiet and security, a perfect rest in which you delight. May your children recognize and know that their rest comes from you, and through their rest may they sanctify your name.

“Upon completing the Amidah, one bends down, takes three steps back while remaining bent down, ‘gives peace’ to his left and to his right, and then lifts his head from the bow.” (Hil. Tefila 5,11) Halakha does not require that any specific words be said while ‘giving peace.’ Indeed, R’ Saadia Gaon writes that this ‘giving peace’ is no more than a silent nodding of the head to the left and the right. For one who desires to verbally ‘give peace,’ you may use the custom that is common today:«Al terminar la Amidá, uno se inclina, da tres pasos hacia atrás permaneciendo inclinado, “da la paz” a su izquierda y a su derecha, y luego levanta la cabeza de la reverencia». (Hil.

AlenuAleinu

The Alenu is a prayer expressing our gratitude and praise to God for making us his covenant people. It is customary to bow during the words "And we bend the knee and bow."
The V-ne’emar, the last verse at the end of the Alenu, speaks of the time of Messiah's coming, when he will be known in all the earth (Zechariah 14:9). Jews were forced to not sing the starred (*) part because of persecution.

It is our duty to praise the master of all, to ascribe greatness to the author of creation; for he made us unlike the nations of the lands, and has not placed us like the families of the earth. He has not made our portion like theirs, nor our lot like all their multitudes.
(For they prostrate to hot air and emptiness, and they pray to a god that does not save.*)
But we bend the knee and bow, and give thanks before the King of Kings, the Holy One, blessed be he.
He stretches out heaven and establishes earth's foundation, and the seat of his glory is in the heavens above, and the presence of his power is in the most exalted heights. He is our God, there is none other. True is our king, there is nothing beside him, as it is written in his Torah: “And you shall know this day and take to your heart, that HASHEM - he is God, in the heavens above and on the earth below - there is none other.” And it is said: “HASHEM shall be king over all the world; on that day HASHEM will be one and his name one!”
