Tisha B’Av and the Messianic Jew: A Call to Remember, Mourn & Hope

What if the most devastating day in Jewish history was also one of the most hope-filled?

Tisha B’Av—the 9th of Av—is the day both Temples were destroyed. It marks the beginning of 2,000 years of exile, persecution, and longing for restoration.

But for Messianic Jews, it’s more than a day of mourning. It’s a moment to align with the heart of Yeshua, who wept over Jerusalem… and a day to join our people in grief, repentance, and holy expectation for redemption.

Too many in the Messianic world have forgotten Tisha B’Av. Some think it’s obsolete. Some never learned about it. But what if this day of ashes is also a divine doorway? A chance to say, with Yeshua:
“O Jerusalem, Jerusalem… how I longed to gather you.”

🎥 In our newest video,

Then, join us this Sunday at 10:00 AM CT for a special Tisha B’Av Shacharit service on Zoom:
https://www.beneiavraham.com/zoom

We’ll include special Tisha B’Av readings and prayers—Lamentations, Kinot, and Torah passages about exile and teshuvah (repentance).

Please note:
💡 On Tisha B’Av morning, we do NOT wear tallit or tefillin during Shacharit.
This is unlike every other weekday.
Instead, we wait to wear them during Minchah (afternoon prayers),
signifying the gradual shift from mourning to hope.

We mourn because we love.
We fast because we long.
And we remember… because Messiah’s return is coming.

Come learn. Come pray. Come cry with us for Zion.
Let’s not forget this day.
Let’s reclaim it—together.
